Matt entered in to the Navy in 1997. After bootcamp he was assigned to a destroyer where he completed two tours. He then attended BUD's, graduating in class 233. He was assigned to SEAL Team 3 where he completed two combat tours, then decided to screen for DEVGRU. After selection he was assigned to a SEAL Team on the East Coast where he completed 6 combat tours. Matt died on August 6th from wounds inflicted when his helicopter was shot down in Wardak province, Afghanistan ending his career just shy of 16 years of service.
