Sgt. 1st Class Christopher A. Celiz

January 12, 1986 - July 12, 2018

Celiz enlisted in the Army in September of 2007. After completing Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Celiz was assigned to Company E, 2nd Battalion, 7th Calvary Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas, as a combat engineer and a team leader. Also during his time at Fort Hood, he was transferred to Company C, 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion as a team leader.

He was selected to serve with the 75th Ranger Regiment in 2013 as a combat engineer. He was on his fifth deployment with 1st Bn., 75th Rgr. Rgt. when he was wounded by enemy small arms fire in the Paktiya province. He was evacuated to the nearest medical treatment center, but later died from his injuries.

Celiz, an Army Ranger, was assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, at the time of his death.

Chris was a loving husband and father. He served our country with great passion and his positive attitude inspired so many of those that served with him.
